    terrific driver/guide

Bridget was a terrific driver/guide - very personable, open and an engaging speaking voice. She shared her aboriginal background.

Our small group enjoyed the crab spearing, periwinkle and oyster gathering, botanical orientation and being welcome into an aboriginal home for a unique cooking and tasting experience. The Daintree/Mossman visitor centre experience was a bit too touristy - would have preferred more time on the less contrived trails and lookouts. We enjoyed visiting the forest in the rain - it really enhanced the rainforest experience.

Our one concern was that the bus did not have seatbelts.

    Fun and Informative

We had a fun and informative trip in warm 'winter' weather in the Daintree rainforest and in the mangroves. That included an entertaining wade looking for shellfish and mud crabs.
We found oysters, big mangrove mussels and one of our own getting deep into a muddy mosquito dance. Having just seen a TV chef spend all day hunting for mud crabs (Living Room, S6E24), I was happy to find mud and blue swimmer crabs in one short afternoon. Brandon generously cooked them up for a snack, and displayed a host of local shells. Our fantastic hosts, Bridget and Aaron, and trainee Ryan (I think, sorry), answered all of my questions about seasons, plants, animals and cultures and told more stories besides. It's such different country, it's fascinating to hear how things work.

My only concern was when someone began asking questions I thought a bit insensitive. I wonder if it would be useful to provide some background reading on the website to help people understand t

he culture, people's stories and how colonisation worked here. Maybe The Way We Civilise and some local stories would help. I'd certainly be interested in following up on my reading.
Thank you again for having us, and for a wonderful trip! Best wishes
