Solway Lass has 112 years of history, has sailed the world and is today maintained in beautiful condition, providing a leisurely paced adventure around the Whitsundays.

Solway Lass has an amazing history. She was built in Holland in 1902, first registered in Hamburg, served for Britain as a 'Q' Ship in WWI and a supply ship for Germany in WWII. Named Solway Lass after the Solway Firth in Scotland where she carried cargo to Liverpool and Dublin. Solway Lass was Sydney's Tall Ship from 1985 to 1999, participating in the First Fleet re-enactment in 1988. Today beautifully restored and maintained and cruising the Whitsundays. The guest accommodation has been tastefully designed to feel 'old world' and consists of 4 or 6 Share, Twin or Double Cabins, all with Air Conditioning all the while maintaining eco-certified status.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Airlie Beach to Whitsundays
This Cruise Itineray is an example only and will differ depending on weather, tides and the Captain's judgement. Depart the marina at 7.30pm and sail to overnight anchorage. Light supper is served around 9.30pm. D

Day 2 : Tongue Bay and Hill Inlet
After breakfast, make way to Tongue Bay for a guided bush walk to the Hill Inlet Lookout - a spectacular lookout overlooking Whitehaven Beach. Back on board Solway Lass enjoy lunch before heading around to Whitehaven Beach. Enjoy an hour on the beach before setting sail and heading north along the eastern side of Hook Island. Overnight anchor in one of the many bays on Hook Island.

Day 3 : Blue Pearl Bay, Hayman Island
After breakfast enjoy snorkelling on the fringing coral reefs which extend right from the edge of the islands. Enjoy lunch, before sailing off to another anchorage for a second snorkel, swim or simply relax at the beach. This evening will be spent anchored in Blue Pearl Bay of Hayman Island or in the Langford Reef Area. Both locations offer spectacular sunset photo opportunities as Solway Lass is silhouetted against the sunset over the water.

Day 4 : Return to Airlie
After breakfast enjoy snorkelling, swimming or relaxing on the beach before lunch. At around 1:00pm set sail across the Whitsunday Passage arriving back to the marina around 4.00pm with the courtesy shuttle transfer arriving back to Airlie Beach around 4.30pm.

Pickups

Departs: Abell Point Marina, Airlie Beach at 7:30pm
Returns: Abell Point Marina, Airlie Beach at 4.30pm

Check in by 4:30pm the day of departure at Explore Whitsundays Shop 1, 4 Airlie Esplanade Airlie Beach.
Courtesy pick ups from Airlie Beach at 6.40pm for transfer to the marina. Paid parking also available at Marina. Ticket machines accept coins or card.
